Website Feng Shui: Part 2 – Content

We talked images now let’s get to the core of any website, copy, of course.

In the principles of Feng Shui this is where things can get tricky because, similar to when you walk into a room and see so many objects, this can block the flow of energy and make things feel stuck or overwhelming. The same thing happens when you land on a page and see so many words. It becomes overwhelming from a sensory perspective.

And when people feel overwhelmed, they leave. They bounce before finding what they’re looking for.

When Content Starts Creating Clutter

This is what we often come across: too much clutter in the form of words on a website, leading to a higher bounce rate and people not being able to find what they are looking for.

This isn’t a scavenger hunt. The goal is not to have people search and try to figure out what you do or what services you offer. It should be a clear map.

More Content Isn’t Always the Answer

If someone doesn’t understand what we do…

What usually happens: Time to add more content.

If someone isn’t converting…

What usually happens:  Time to add more content.

If we’re nervous about leaving something out…

What usually happens: Time to add more content.

Before long, the website becomes overcrowded and people just don’t understand the message.

The same way as when you walk into a room with too many posters on the wall or too much furniture. It becomes overwhelming, and your eyes don’t know what is actually important.

The energy feels heavy without a clear purpose.

First, identify your website’s goal

Identify what the true goal of your website is. It’s not to put everything down for everyone to know every bit of information. The goal is to give just enough information to show who you are, a little mystery is okay!

Similar to the sales tactic where you don’t leave all your cards out in the lobby, give just enough information to get someone to submit a lead form. When you get them on the phone or email, that is where you answer questions, clarify anything on the website, and ultimately close the deal.

The data supports this.

Visitors Are Scanning, Not Reading

According to a 2026 report from Forbes “Consumer attention continues to shrink. Recent website studies show that the average visitor spends only about 54 seconds on a webpage, making clarity more important than ever.”

You can argue with the concept, but you can’t really argue with the data. Less is, in fact, more. Most people are looking for a quick understanding of who you are, and what you do.

Your website is not a novel.

Ask yourself:

Am I explaining this because my visitor needs it, or because I feel obligated to say it?

Is this helping the visitor move forward, or is it creating friction and non-action?

Content should guide and create a clear user journey path.

Whether the goal is to contact you, schedule a consultation, or learn more, your content should help visitors move naturally through your website rather than leaving them wondering where to go next.

Unsure where your website stands? We can help.

Our Website Feng Shui Website Audit combines content review with a technical data scan to uncover what is working, what is being ignored, and where energy may be getting stuck.

We look at:

• Clutter – outdated, repetitive, or unnecessary content

• Clarity – whether your message is clear and easy to understand

• User Journey Paths – how effectively visitors are guided to take action

You’ll receive a Website Feng Shui Score along with a Technical Health Score that measures how your website is performing from both a user experience and technical perspective.

Submit a form and in the message write Feng Shui Audit.
